Which press profile do I need?

TH, V, U, M or UP? The profile depends on your fitting, not your press tool. Pick your fitting brand and system below, you'll see instantly which profile (and which insert) you need.

TH, V, U, M and UP: what's the difference?

A press profile (or press contour) is the shape in the insert that matches the fitting. Which profile you need depends on the pipe material and the fitting:

ProfileForMaterial
THHenco, Bonfix, Comap, Wavin, Nicoll…plastic / multilayer
Uolder Uponor MLC, VSH, Multitubo…plastic / multilayer
UPUponor S-Press Plus / Uni Pipe Plusplastic (Uponor)
MGeberit Mapress, VSH XPress, Bonfix…copper · stainless · steel
VViega Profipress/Prestabo, Sudopress…copper · stainless · steel

Which profile for which fitting brand?

Uponor: U or UP? Uponor fittings are often marked "U16", but the newer S-Press Plus must be pressed with the UP profile, not the regular U profile. U looks like UP, but can cause leaks over time. In doubt? Check before ordering.

Which profile for which material?

The fitting manufacturer determines the final profile, check the fitting or the packaging. With the complete set (TH, V, U and M, 19 inserts) you press virtually every fitting, whatever the brand.

What does TH 16 or V 15 mean?

The letter is the profile (TH, V, U, M or UP) and the number is the pipe size in millimetres. TH 16 = a TH insert in size 16 mm; V 15 = a V insert in 15 mm.
